Repentance
While washing the dishes and just before I needed to pick up the boys from school today I was reminded of a significant moment this weekend that I felt impressed to record. Spencer came home from church this Sunday with a folded up paper in his hand. He kept telling me he had something to tell us all and being busy getting lunch on the table and preparing for our dinner I told him he could tell us about it at dinner. Spencer sat at the table once dinner was ready waiting for the last person to be seated before he opened it up and started reading aloud. We told him to wait till after the prayer. Once we prayed and everyone had their food Spencer shared with us what he learned in primary. Something he said he never knew how to do. He shared the steps of repentance and his gratitude for knowing now "finally" how to repent. Grant asked what he had been doing prior. Spencer said he just found a picture that made him happy and stared at it when he thought he needed to repent. He isn't 8 yet so he really doesn't repent. But he can be sorry and he can learn the steps and go through them. What a sweet boy. I keep finding that my explanations for things are not sinking in and when I think I am perfectly clear and understandable I learn that I'm not. Thank goodness for primary teachers, family and friends. And an adorable sweet and innocent Spencer.

That is an experience to record and remember! It always amazed me that I expected children to pick things up from watching and activities of life but I learned that they don't often get it that way and they do need to be specificly taught things. Love to hear about your family experiences!
