Parenting resources we like

Today was a good day. We are trying to establish a family plan system and are starting to find "some" success with it. It feels good to have a consistent set of expectations, rules, chores and consequences. The system is called Family Rules; parenting with a plan by Dr. Matthew A. Johnson and here is the link. http://www.family-rules.com

It was suggested to me years ago by a counselor I had at LDS Family Services. It's a token system that not only gives positive consequences but also lots of opportunities to earn tokens for rewards.

I am also reading Parenting with Love and Logic by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline http://www.loveandlogic.com

In addition I listened to the best talk given by Virginia Pearce from last years women's conference entitled, "The Moral Force That Is Within You."

It was a good day because I tried my best to be consistent with our plan and also to pay closer attention to my example. I felt much better today than I do most days because I know I did my best to do my jobs and to keep my responsibilities to my Heavenly Father. It's interesting to me how my obedience affects how I feel about my family and others around me.
