We made it to the pinewood derby last night with about 12 minutes to spare before weigh in. The first weigh in brought some bad news with it. The car was too heavy. Luckily we had accidently superglued the wheel a bit and had some nail polish remover with us in the car from trying to get the wheel spinning again. So off with a washer. Still too heavy. Matt set in with a chisel of sorts and whittled just enough wood away from the underside to make weight. Phew! That was a close one.
After last years showing Grant was determined to do better this year. Last night he and his dad were up till 9:30 putting the finishing touches on the blue car. The hard work paid off. Last year the "Bloody Killer" -named by my sweet then 4 year old. placed 4th all 4 races. This year Grants car got a 4th, 3rd and two 2nd's!!! Give us a couple years and I suspect we might have a winning car on our hands. :)
Tyler waited in the car with the baby so I could be there. I really appreciate him doing that. Karyn and her kids came to support Grant and so did his Oma Helen and Aunt Josephine.
We all love this boy so much.
