Spencer's Latest Adventure

Spencer contracted some sort of stomach bug early yesterday morning just before the sun peeked it's head over the mountain. Unfortunately he was not able to keep his food down and he had to stay in the hospital for twenty-four long and sleepless hours. He braved the routine pokes, labs, and bothersome IV and remained as cheerful as can be expected throughout.

Grant's earnest compassion for his little brother really made an eternal impression on me. He has become an unusually tenderhearted little boy and I could tell that he felt a lot of genuine concern and love for his brother while he was in the hospital. I am so happy that he is able to be empathetic with Spencer at times like this and even try to comfort him.

Grant likes the spotlight but he has surprized us with his ability to take a back seat at times like this and help his brother! There are so many things I could improve on as a mother, however,if I manage to teach my boys compassion I will feel truly happy. Spencer will need a brother who loves him and is willing to help keep his spirits up and I think Grant will be able to be that type of brother and friend to Spencer.

We are grateful that our boys have recovered quickly and are home wrestling and stealing each others toys again. Now we are looking forward to a month of Christmas music, yummy treats, and that much anticipated chill in the air. In Las Vegas the chill is a novelty!!
