Sunday

Sunday is starting to be my favorite day of the week. I learned in a sunday school lesson a few weeks back that it should be our very best day and that we should plan for it to be so.

I thoroughly enjoyed what I learned and hope to do better in the future. I also enjoyed the following clip from Thomas S. Monson.
This Sunday felt wonderful to me I think in part because we spent nearly all of our Saturday cleaning and organizing...it was a lot of work and I was exhausted by the end of the day but I think it helped Sunday be more restful.

Side note:( Grant and Spencer are learning so much. It's fun to watch them change and become better versions of themselves everyday. Grant is growing up to be such a reliable hard worker and I'm so proud of him.  He is also learning to be a compassionate big brother. He spends lots of time with Spencer each day playing and teaching him things like how to tie his shoes and how to talk and act so that others will like him.

Spencer is learning different things like how fun it is to play with toys that are organized, and how it's important to follow directions and clean up after yourself in order to continue playing with toys or swimming or doing whatever fun thing is on his mind. He is a fun seeker and bring lots of happiness to our family with his sweet personality. I feel very blessed to be the mother of such wonderful boys.)

Back to Saturday-- Grant and Spencer cleaned in their room under their bed and organized their toys.
Grant was able to stay on task with some help and Spencer worked as hard as can be expected from a 5 year old who constantly wants to dance and play with action figures. He after much re-direction was able to help get his jobs done close to the 3:30 deadline. At 3:30 we went swimming and had a good time. Tyler has these cool snorkling goggles that I wore. Swimming under the water was so fun...I loved seeing the bubbles in the pretty blue water (surely I've done this before and noticed how cool it was, right?)--I can't wait to go back today and try out those goggles again. After swimming it felt so nice to come back to our clean house and relax a little and enjoy another barbecue.  Exhausted from the day we all went to bed early. I am learning that  relaxing rarely means the absence of work or effort its just as far as I can tell at this point being able to work in a more clean and orderly environment and in a more Christlike manner. In a way that brings peace and harmony rather than contention and division. The peace seems to be knowing that what I am doing is acceptable to my Heavenly Father.

Sunday morning rolled around like the blink of an eye and before we knew it the getting ready for church routine needed to began. Turns out we probably need another hour of getting ready so we can avoid getting to the chapel with just minutes to spare. We did better this week by a few minutes it seems but it sure would be nice to have just a little more time between our arrival and the start of the meeting. Tyler is so much better at gaging time than I am. He gets antsy well before I do anticipating our impending lateness.

Sacrament meeting itself felt like a really significant one to me. Each one of the speakers were able to capture my attention and had something unique to say. The theme of the meeting was missionary work.

We heard from a Young man who would be serving in the next two or three years, a returned missionary and two current missionaries serving in our ward. The first speaker seemed very excited about what his friends and family have helped him learn and looked forward to the opportunity to serve the Lord as a missionary. The returned missionary was so humble I just wanted to get up and hug him thruought his talk. His main theme seemed to center around turning your life over to the Lord and progressing. He talked about conversion and the conversion of Peter. How it wasn't until after the Savior died and he went back to fishing just as he had done before his calling as an apostle that he seemed to cross over from being the Peter who waivered to the faithful servant of Jesus Christ that he eventually became. The turning point seemed to be when the Lord pointed out to him that he was no longer the old Peter. That he needed to be Peter the Apostle...for the rest of his life. That his job was to teach and testify of Jesus Christ. That invitation seemed to be the catalyst for change in his life. Next was a Missionary born and raised in Deleware as a Quaker. He struggled thruought his life with religion and was very rebellious about it and never felt a need to incorporate God into his life until after he graduated from College with a degree in psychology and was in a terrible accident. He felt like he could have died and that scared him. Shortly thereafter he joined a band and the band members were Mormon. He attended church with them and eventually learned to feel the Holy Ghost and recognize the love that comes from the Lord. When he decided to be baptized at twenty five he said he felt the love of the Lord in his life for the very first time and felt as if he wanted to share that with as many people as he could. So he decided to serve a mission. He will be a wonderful missionary. His companion spoke about missionary work and how the finding and fellowshipping of people to teach was the responsibility of the members. It certainly inspired me to be a better missionary.

In addition to the wonderful talks we enjoyed a musical number by three of the older Young Men in our ward. One played the piano, one played the basoon and one played some sort of clarinet. Not sure what kind it was. They played a song from the childrens songbook...again can't remember the name. I just remember it was really good and made me cry. Spencer was captivated by the instruments from the beginning of the meeting and couldn't wait to hear them played. I think he especially wanted to hear what kind of sound the basoon could make.

Once home Spencer played with his toys, Grant read, Tyler listened to a devotional and tried to get me to stop taking pictures of him.
After Tyler and I both took a nap we worked on Dinner then talked to some family members all before saying goodbye to the boys. Matt came by at 5:00 on the dot and boy were Grant and Spencer excited. They sure love their dad.
After dinner we had a little planning meeting for the week and caught up on some family blogs all before another fairly early bed-time. I lost a battle with my prenatal vitamin and threw up all over the place just before bed though to extend the night a little and make things fun. :( Not.

All and all it was a good day. My best day this week?...I think it might have been. :)
