I woke up to my rascals doing what they do every morning no matter what the consequences. Eating food in front of the TV. They heft giant whole watermelons out of the refrigerator and start digging out the middle with a spoon, eat cherries and put the pits and stems all over the floor. The messier the better is their motto... It makes me so mad. I can't seem to get them to stop. Grant can't order any books from the book club order due Friday since he can not seen to remember to 1.) ask when wants something to eat, or 2.) wait till breakfast something we always have. Any tips out there. I am going to be pouring over the parenting books about this one today. It has got to stop.
P.S. Why do my boys have to be such extreme testers of boundaries. For once I'd like a lesson to be learned without first having to go through the yo-yo process of doing good, never mind don't want to listen, doing good, never mind don't want to listen.
K- I am done venting. Had to get that out of my system.

It isn't just your kids! Mine do exactly the same. Only I decided not to fight this particular battle- just to win it in my own way. I fill the fridge with yoghurts and fromage frais. The kids are allowed to eat these, or apples, before I am out of bed- nothing else, they are supposed to ask me first (they usually do), but they know I always say yes. This way, they have independence, but I still retain a measure of control. They are eating what I allow, not raiding the fridge. They also have to remove all evidence from the front room (ie put the pot/apple core in the trash- although I do accept that this may not always happen!)
To be honest though- It is my lazy way of gaining a few extra minutes in bed in the morning!!
