Tonight we tried to assemble a Haunted House Gingerbread kit. It seemed to go all right until; Spencer and Matt ate the gumballs, Grant started to fly around the room like a
witch on a broom and then finally the whole thing just collapsed one wall at a time. Luckily our trusty neighbors and friends the
Rapp's came over just when we needed them most. 8-year old Lexi has been putting together a Christmas Gingerbread house every year since she was born and so she felt quite confident that she could help us out. She gave me a few pointers and then set out on trying to reconstruct our fallen Haunted House.
At one point Lexi's Dad and I tried to prop the falling walls and roof up with these nice asparagus cans. That was a good idea until we removed the cans.
Lexi was determined to make something of our mess and sure enough she did. Here is the trick. Don't follow the directions on the package!! And place a thick layer of frosting down first to hold the frame of the house...let the frame dry--and then add the roof. Thanks Lexi for sharing your wisdom with us.
Here it is the final product. ( Their was another unfortunate collapse shortly after we reassembled this beauty. )
