Pioneer Christmas!

It is always a treat to get together with family; but getting together at Christmas time is the best. There is that added measure of happiness and joy in the air and the memories are always just a little bit sweeter. Tonight was no exception.

We went to the old Mormon fort to see a presentation of an old pioneer Christmas with Grandma Helen, Aunt Josephine, D.J and his wife Michelle and their two kids Hunter and Wyatt. We saw wagons, horses, carolers, a wedding, and even a display of fur pelts drying. You might notice in a few of the pictures the droplets of kerosine in the air. That's a mighty fine camera to pick up gas molecules. I feel bad for my lungs.

The boys enjoyed being together as usual. They managed to fit in some good chasing time and freak Grant out with scary faces until he screams time. Grant adores Hunter and Wyatt and who could blame him they are pretty cute kids.

We are grateful to have family so close.

It was difficult to get pictures of everything especially at the beginning. We were battling with Spencer. I forgot his stroller so...we had to hold the squirmy but adoreable little cutie. We managed to lose and re-lose gloves, hats, blankets, and sippy cups. We finally got smart and just let him walk around. Needles to say we will never leave the stroller behind again:)

After the first part of the presentation an announcement was made about cobbler being served with ice cream. Grant exclaimed that he wanted cherry and then made a bee-line for the cobbler stand. Yummy!

Matt has a knack for saving the day in public situations. As he stood adoring the animals and barking at them with Spencer the fence broke. Not a problem, he swiftly reported the situation to the people in charge and was able to prevent the animals from being set free in the middle of the performance. We have a real live Clark Kent on our hands.

Matt was standing off to the side with Spencer because Spencer wanted to keep walking and walking and walking.

He is bound and determined to be the best one-year-old walker he can be.

Michelle trying to get some loves from Spencer the shy guy.

I am not really sure what I am doing in this picture. It looks funny so I thought I would post it.

Aunty Jo loves her family. The D.J. and Michelle Holland family displaying their million dollar smiles.

Grant had the best seat in the house. Nothing beats snuggling with your Great Grandma

The three amigos, Grant, Wyatt, and Hunter are standing inside an old pioneer wagon. I had to crop most of the wagon out because there was a little boy who wanted to be in the picture and wouldn't step out of the way. Now I feel bad that I cropped him out since he wanted to be in the picture so bad.

Here is another picture of the boy that I cropped out. He is on the far left looking down. I wonder why he was so lonely? I shouldn't have asked him to step out of the picture:( My dad would not be proud of me for doing that.

Once it was announced that Santa was waiting in the lobby to meet the children Grant did not want anything to do with the baby cows, taking pictures, or even getting more hot chocolate. He just wanted to see Santa!

Here I am trying to look natural--it was really awkward to crouch down at the train table for some reason...I guess I am getting old.

Grant was mesmerized with the train set and Spencer couldn't stop barking!!

Wyatt looks so good in his new glasses.

An old pioneer Christmas with our Las Vegas family Grandma, Jo, D.J., Michelle, Hunter and Wyatt.

Spencer and Hunter really have a thing for each other. Hunter is really good at making Spencer laugh. And Spencer is really good at making Hunter smile from ear to ear.

What a fun event! And how great to share it with relatives! You look just like I remember you -- always a smile on your face. It's so fun to see pictures of Grant and Spencer -- they are adorable. I wish McKay was walking . . . he still hasn't taken any more steps than that one night! Looks like you are really enjoying the holidays. Isn't it nice to not have a new born this year?!
