Jousting Mistake!

This picture was taken the night we got home from the Pioneer Christmas activity.

Grant, like he frequently does said, "Mom, I like to do things with other people and other families but when we do we don't spend time together. Can't we do something as a family?"

So, even though it was late and we were tired and we probably should have just gone to bed; Matt and I had a jousting tournament with Grant and Spencer. Matt and I were the horsey's and Grant and Spencer were the knights swatting their tinker toy swords at each other.

It was one of those nights where I really felt like we should have been in bed. It was a hollow- fun activity. I wonder sometimes if my kids can pick up on that feeling and discern that we shouldn't have stayed up. Maybe if I listen to those promptings more often the fun will match the feeling and there will be less and less of those feelings of regret after spending our time in a way that does not satisfy. Timing, Timing, Timing. I am learning. It's nice to have a little guidance when your brain doesn't kick in.

Heavenly Father is really merciful to extend an added measure of the spirit to exhausted moms who are up in the night with their kids. I guess it does no good if I don't listen. I will try and do a little better tommorrow.
