Here is my cute little pumpkin.
And my equally cute but very disgruntled Grant who had to settle for a "Pete's Dragon Costume", that I picked up at a garage sale a few years ago. (story to follow)
Halloween night turned out to be a little spooky and even a little sad. Grant woke up from a late afternoon nap that I insisted he take and cried because we didn't manage to find the final touch for his costume, a machine that he could insert into his mouth that would shoot out fangs and then simultaneously crush things. (I know, I could really step it up a notch.) He wanted these fangs to go with a ghost/clown costume he had been planning in his mind for some time. I tried to convince him that we could still do a ghost costume and paint his face like a clown. That would never do because we didn't have a wig, and according to him, "Someone was a ghost/clown last year and it was probably the ugliest costume he had have ever seen." I don't recall ever seeing a ghost clown before...but I guess I may not have been looking for one either.?! So big tears flowed for a good 5 minutes. We had a great big negotiation and finally Grant decided on being "Pete's Dragon"
The descriptions of what his fang machine might do spooked me for sure, and quite frankly almost brought me to tears. Should little boys imagine up such scary things?
Of to the churh for "Trunk-or-Treat." Once there we met up with D.J. (Matt's cousin who lives here in Las Vegas) and Michelle, their kids Hunter and Wyatt. (A true and living blogger would have a picture for all of this but I am not thinking like a blogger yet.) I take that back I do have a few pictures that didn't turn out so well. I will post the best one.
On the bottom left hand corner is Wyatt, who dressed as some sort of Grim Reaper. Above him and also out of the picture is D.J. Directly below him is his wife Michelle and below her is Hunter, dressed as a "gangster", a "homey", or whatever you want to call him. Together we had hot dogs and chili in the dark. Dinner was served out side and the parking lot lights hadn't turned on yet when we arrived. It was fun trying to pick out a non-spicy chili for my husband...I mean son, in the dark. :)
After dinner Matt, Grant, and Spencer made their way around the church parking lot and ended up with about a quarter of a pillow case worth of candy. Grant had a love hate relationship with his cousin Wyatt the Grim Reaper. He begged him to put on his mask and then once it was on he screamed to have him take it of and quit scaring him. Pretty funny.
Next stop was a neighborhood close by that decorates really well for Halloween. Sorry blogger brain wasn't on didn't take a picture of the neighborhood.
Our final stop was to Oma and Josephine's house (Matt's Grandmother and Aunt) for treats, and drinks for our thirsty boys and a much needed rest. The kids were all on a sugar buzz and were flipping around Oma's small living room like fishes out of their fish tank. It was really something to see. All in all it was a great night spent with friends and family. It doesn't get much better than that.

Cute costumes. I love the story about the ghost/clown. What an imagination!! You are such a good mom, always trying your hardest to help he be happy. I admire your skills!
I love grant's imagination... just the other day chris and i were thinking of his next art project, which had the guidelines of being some sort of appendage that could leave a mark on something... i thought he could do some sort of mouth peice that could control a bigger set of "jaws" that could bite things! so tell grant we're working on it. Although chris, at first, also thought my idea was creepy..
also, spencer looks like matt! the picture of grant holding up the phantom picture reminds me of jimmy. I miss you guys!
