Sick at home!

Today my little family spent the entire day together in our Pajamas. It was actually a really fun day. Despite our best efforts we have all managed to catch the nasty bug Grant and Spencer have been battling for the past week. Spencer still seems to get a little fever at night and continues to cough with a runny nose. Grant a little of the same and Mom and Dad are tired and have sore throats. It was nice to sit around and watch our kids play together and even look at some of our friends e-mails, blogs, pictures sent etc.
I am so grateful for my friends and family. As Matt and I looked over old photos I was reminded of just how darn cute Grant was as a baby. And just how much I love my family. We have started spending about an hour each night together just having fun. We either play with the kids, go out, just talk, or look online together. The other night we even went to an amusement park. It was so much fun. We have been so busy for the past few years we forgot to have a lot of fun. I am so sad to say that because of the lack of fun captured on film I don't have a lot of memories that I can recall. There is much to be said for fun memories with family and daily kindness captured and preserved. I am falling in love with my blog. It helps me to reflect on my time with family and how carefuly I protect and preserve that time. I love to see what my friends are doing with their families and the happiness reflected in their faces.
Like I said today was spent home in our Jammie's sick and happy. (That didn't come out right) Spencer has been trying to take a few steps. He stands for long periods of time without any support at all then takes a little step then sits down. It is just a matter of time before he takes the plunge into the world of the walkers. Last night Matt was keeping an eye on Spencer when the mother's intuition kicked in. I asked Matt where Spencer was and he gave his standard line "Oh, just playing in the knives!" Ha-Ha, well it wasn't too far from the truth last night. The dishwasher had been left open and he had crawled up onto the opened dishwasher door next to the silverware container which may have contained knives I didn't check. We found him trying to get down from the dishwasher door headfirst. I didn't catch a picture of it either. It was so cute and so scary that Daddy radar and intuition isn't always so keen.
Grant was sad to stay home from church today but got a little surprise from a member of the primary presidency and his primary class. They wrote him a sweet little letter telling him about their lesson and expressing their interest in seeing him the following week. All the kids signed their name. It was so cute. I think it made Grant feel really special. Also, Matt gave Grant some good news today. Last year we went to a Cinco De Mayo party with some friends Matt had from work. One of the little girls there seemed to like Grant a lot in fact once we left she said, "Daddy, you know the boy in the red? I really like him a lot." Matt told Grant what she said and he just sat there smiling from ear to ear so happy to hear a peer compliment him. It sure feels good to be loved at any age.
Matt was especially helpful today with the kids. He and Spencer have an understanding about bath time. When it starts getting dark he gets anxious to get in the tub and looks for Matt. They laugh and splash and have a great time. As soon as he is out of the bath, however, he is finished with Matt and looks around for me. I love it. I'll admit it. I like to see my boys miss and need me. Matt was so kind with Grant tonight even though Grant stayed up much longer than he was supposed to. I love to catch Matt being kind to Grant when I know it isn't easy. It feels like good things are happening and I am not the head of it. I feel like I can take a breather now and again and my great husband will help move our family forward in a positive direction on his own. That is what I call a BABE!!

Hello Holland's. We are thrilled you have invited us to your blog so we can know all of your latest happenings. We also were sick at home yesterday with what sounds like the same yucky virus that seems to be spreading like crazy around here and there too! We probably didn't have the fun that you guys had though. Jay isn't sick, just me and the boys, and went to church (bishopric),so all they wanted was for me to hold them and comfort them both at the same time - it was definitely a two man job but we got through it just like every day this past week. Anyway this comment is getting way too long, but just know we're thinking of you and hope you all get to feeling better soon. When are you guys coming to Arizona next? You gotta stop by when you come again.
