HELP!!!

Today has been a very interesting day in the Holland household. I hesitate to post what has been going on for fear that I will bog others who may read this down with negative depressing information. However, I feel so overwhelmed I think I need to say something. Maybe someone out there has some helpful advice for me!?

Grant is sick and Spencer is Sick. So for me that means trying to keep the two apart. I have unsuccessfully quarantined Grant to his room for part of the day. They seem to have have two different illnesses. Spencer had a fever last night and seems otherwise fine this morning. Grant has had a sore throat and pretty bad cough all morning with a little congestion.

SOOOOOO...I have been playing movie after movie to keep Grant occupied. I was supposed to use this day for laundry and putting our house back in order after 4 days of a fun family reunion. Instead, I have not yet showerred, Grant has managed to get into some leftover chocolate cake, eat it in the living room and smear it into our freshly shampooed carpet. I don't mean to complain I am just a little bewilderred. I also could use a little advice as to how to manage such situations. It seems to be happening more frequently with the cold season coming on.

Any advice out there?????

Kristie,

My biggest piece of advice is that you shouldn't feel you're alone in this... we all have these days. Last week I went at least 4 days without showering. I think. Maybe it was more... I can't even remember! =) That's sad to admit, but motherhood certainly can take its toll. I think the hardest, yet most important thing for us to do is to remember what's really important... so what if the house is messy for a while... take care of your little ones without stressing yourself out because they will feel your stress and won't have the comfort they need. I don't know the answer to keeping them separated - it never works for me. But, as for the clothes thing. We are in need of dressers for the kiddos too. A couple years ago I bought Rubbermaid drawers at Wal-Mart... they are pretty big drawers and are purchased individually. We have 4 stacked up in Ben's closet and it holds a decent amout of his clothes. Maybe try something like that for the boys and use the real dresser for you and Matt until you can get some more.

Anyways, hang in there. Jen
